Owner of the Week: Holly Hazard

Like many Outdoorsy RV owners, Holly Hazard started out as a renter. “We rented an RV from Outdoorsy a few years ago to travel with our dogs to Acadia National Park,” she shares. Then, in 2020, she decided to transition into RV ownership, buying her own RV — an Airstream Bambi.

“We bought an Airstream almost on a whim because, with Covid fever, we wanted to get out and have an adventure, but one that was safe,” Holly tells us. But why share their newly purchased RV with Outdoorsy renters? Well, as renter turned owner Holly says, “There’s a lot of downtime between trips, and we decided we’d love to share our RV with others who may not be quite ready to invest.”

Being an avid traveler and adventurer, the RV rental business is the perfect side gig for Holly. And her renters agree! Rick Waters had kind words to say, noting, “Holly and Rick are great hosts! The Bambi is perfect, everything works, just like new. Plenty of space for a couple, and easy to tow even behind a midsized SUV. We couldn’t have been more pleased and plan to rent again.”

That said, business is ramping up for new and return business coming this year. “Bookings are coming in fast and furious for spring. People really want to travel, but travel safely and RVing is the best way to do this,” Holly says, and we agree!

If you’re looking to jump into the RV rental business part-time or full-time, Holly has some advice — don’t jump straight in. “Use your RV yourself for about a month first. Really get to know her so you can answer any questions and provide excellent service.”
