RV Delivery: Why Order a Pizza When you Could Order a Fifth-Wheel RV?

Play smarter, not harder. Order an RV for delivery now.

Every month, the RV community welcomes enthusiastic newbies ready to plunge and dive headfirst into the RV lifestyle. Experienced RVers tuck the newbies under their wings and provide advice, assistance, and assurance for every apprehensive question. Some of the most common questions newbies ask are almost always related to driving and towing RVs, travel trailers, and fifth-wheels.

While it’s easy to offer advice through anecdotes and step-by-step directions, it’s hard to get the full experience until you try to back your trailer into a back-in spot at the campground. Maybe, driving and setting up an RV is something you’d like to learn, but only after testing out different kinds of RVs to see what driving or towing method suits you best. Instead of worrying if your truck has the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) rating or towing capacity to try out that travel trailer you’ve been eyeing, why not let Outdoorsy step in and help you try an RV before you buy an RV with our optional RV delivery?

Ordering up a Fifth-Wheel

Outdoorsy knows that people want to get out and explore the country; we also know that not everyone has the desire, or the capacity, to drive or tow the RV of their dreams. We support all levels of RVers, and our goal is to have everyone fall in love with the RV experience. Sometimes that means doing things a little differently. Did you know that ordering an RV to your campsite is as simple as ordering a pizza? Well, maybe it’s not as simple as ordering a pizza, but it is pretty darn close.

Some Reasons Why People Opt for RV Delivery

  • You want to try out towable RVs, and your vehicle can’t tow.
  • You are apprehensive about driving or towing an RV.
  • You feel comfortable driving or towing an RV, but backing it up? Nope. Not ready yet.
  • You need your rental rig delivered to help make your camping trip a little easier.
  • You are on a time crunch, and having someone else do the delivery and pickup creates more time for fun.
  • You want to try out a bunch of different types of rigs, and having someone deliver helps you try an RV before you buy an RV.
  • You want the ease and convenience of a setup or a drop-off.
  • You are interested in delivery and setup because you want to watch the process to understand better how to do it yourself next time.
  • It would help if you had physical assistance with the setup or takedown process.

RV Delivery Steps

The Reservation

Step 1: Search Deliverable Rigs

When you head to Outdoorsy to find your RV rental, you’ll be asked for three things.

  1. Your starting location
  2. Your departure date
  3. Your return date

From there, you’ll be shown available rigs in that area; however, not all rigs are deliverable by the owner. To find RVs that are, you can enter the address of the site you want your rental to be delivered to, and the search will be filtered to show deliverable rigs.

Step 2: Take Your Pick

As you wade through deliverable options, you’ll see a note at the top of these listings that say they’re available for delivery within a certain radius. These can be delivered to your home, a pickup location, or your final destination.

Step 3: Start Your Booking

Hit the reserve button, and you’ll be taken to a page that asks you to:

  1. Enter your name, email, phone number, and confirmation of age.
  2. Describe your trip, including requested add-ons, like delivery.
  3. Select your insurance coverage.
  4. Confirm your reservation and pay.

Pricing for delivery is set by the owner. They may have delivery as an add-on option with a fixed cost or have it set to automatically calculate based on distance. Note that the type of insurance you qualify for depends on how the owner prices the add-on and whether or not they’re providing both drop-off and pickup services. For example, fixed cost add-ons would not qualify for stationary insurance.

Step 4: Communicate with the Owner

Once the owner confirms your booking, you can iron out the details with them. You’ll want to discuss delivery cost if not already set,  site dimensions and restrictions, the exact location of your site, drop off and pick up times, and any special instructions. Feel free to ask them any other questions you may have!

The Drop-Off

Step 5: Meet the Owner

Every owner is different. Some may have your rig set up for you before you arrive, while some may guide you through the process during the walkthrough. This is something you can discuss with them before the date, so you’ll know what to expect.

Step 6: Walkthrough and Sign

Once you and the owner are both at the site, they will walk you through the RV, explaining all the ins, outs, and how-tos. Then, it’s time for some paperwork. Both you and the owner will sign a departure form, and they’ll take pre-trip photos to upload to the app. You’ll sign the rental contract and will be left to enjoy your trip.

Step 7: Let Adventure Begin

You’re good to go. Enjoy your trip!

The Pickup

Step 8: Clean up and Prepare for Pick Up

Leave the rig as lovely as you found it. Note any damages or problems to discuss with the owner.

Step 9: More Forms and Photos

Upon the return of the owner for pickup, post-trip photos will be taken. Fill out the return form and sign off to acknowledge any damages or lack thereof.

Step 10: Say Goodbye

Wave goodbye to your campsite and your rig, and head off to plan your next adventure.

RV Delivery Available

Have we piqued your interest? Are you ready to see what kind of RV you can have delivered to your state park campground or other camping destination? If so, the next part is up to you.

When you search for the RV type that you hope to rent, make sure you filter your search to show RVs with delivery options within your search criteria. Since owners determine whether they want to provide delivery, each owner details their own delivery options. Typically, renters can see the maximum delivery distance after clicking on the page that gives more details about each rig. Some owners might provide delivery information on their rental page, and other owners might ask you to contact them to talk to them more about delivery options.

If you want delivery and setup, keep in mind there are additional fees associated with these services. Prices usually are based on distance and the services the owner agrees to provide, so it’s always best to talk to each owner to get more details on what’s available with the rig you hope to rent.

Now, are you ready to see what’s available for rent in your area? Try an RV before you buy: visit Outdoorsy to open up a world of RV camping possibilities.
