17 Nudist RV Parks in the U.S. For Your Next Trip

Camping (or glamping, for that matter) is about connecting with nature in whatever fabric you feel comfortable in. But have you ever thought about camping without any fabric at all?

If you like (or want to experience) holidaying in a state of nature, you’re in luck. There are RV parks throughout the US that allow you to camp nude without getting awkward stares or unwanted attention.

This article lists 17 nudist RV parks in the US that you should consider for your next trip.

What is a Nudist RV Park?

Nudist RV parks are campsites that accommodate RVers who want to camp naked. These are also known as naturist RV parks or clothing-optional parks.

These properties are built around the philosophy that going nude means embracing a nature-based lifestyle that’s free and unadulterated. This philosophy can be traced back to the nudist movement of Germany during the 19th century.

As per Expedia’s Flip Flop report 2014, Germany had the highest number of nude beachgoers, closely followed by the United States.

A nudist RV park takes away the awkwardness of camping without clothes. Everyone who books a site agrees to the fact that there will be nude people within the premises. Therefore, nobody gives an unwanted stare when you strip down to your birthday suit. In fact, doing so is encouraged and appreciated.

That said, the amenities at these parks are on a par with a regular RV park. You can expect everything from leveled RV sites with full hook-ups to laundromats.

What States Have Nudist Colonies?

Laws regarding public nudity aren’t monolithic in the United States. While there’s little to no restriction at the federal level, the laws are imposed at the state and local levels.

Many states like Washington, Oregon, Florida, California, and Philadelphia have allowed nudist colonies to exist. You’ll also find similar clothing-optional recreational spots in other states.

Laws for nudist colonies shouldn’t be confused with laws for public nudity. You can walk stark naked inside a nudist colony, and it’s completely legal. But as soon as you come out of the property into the streets without adequate clothing, you could land in trouble.

With that said, there’s little need to worry about the legal consequences when camping inside a nudist park or resort. Such properties are completely safe and won’t attract the boys in blue.
